That's what I've heard from others as well, which is why the V8 model is more sought-after.

But to be clear, even the SCV6 LR4 sought after since it is still adequate and obviously newer and people hate the new Discovery. There are plenty of anecdotes of outrageously high trade-in offers for late, low-mile, LR4's.

For sure- the LR4s do seem to hold their values really well. And it looks like its possible to now get used Discovery 5s for cheaper than LR4s! To be fair, I do think the D5 drives better as it is lighter and based on the Range ROver platform. But the looks are pretty uninispiring.

My guess is that atleast some of the LR4 crowd will now switch to defenders since that vehicle captures some what people like about the LR4 (boxy, rugged, etc). Looks like they are planning a v8 version as well:

This is true. But a loaded Defender gets pretty pricey and cargo room is nowhere as good. But otherwise, yes, the Defender is the spiritual successor.

Yeah that doesn’t make any sense unless they are comparing a stripper 4 cylinder defender 90 with a loaded v8 defender 110? Even then 700 pounds sounds too high.

On the Range Rover sport I believe the v8 adds about 200 compared to the i6 but also includes extras like active roll bars, etc

Also going from rental Corollas to v8 defenders must be a record for how far off topic we’ve taken a thread here

Give it long enough and all threads turn into Porsche or Tesla threads. I would have also added BMW-bashing, but that already happened.

yeah I agree, seems like a mistake.

BTW that V8 90 looks pretty funny with the big rims and lift. 110 looks fine.

The funny thing is that these are all probably going to be cheaper than buying a used NAS Defender.

I like the 90. A V8 in one of these makes no sense, but if Mercedes has taught us anything, it's that people will pay mad money for big engines in "off road" vehicles.
