I like the 90. A V8 in one of these makes no sense, but if Mercedes has taught us anything, it's that people will pay mad money for big engines in "off road" vehicles.
I am actually liking the new defender a lot. Kind of cool they are using "newer tech" for off-roading.

Too bad I will never touch one with a 10 foot stick with their reliability issues.

Guess it depends. Yeah if you were going to buy it abd keep it 10+ years there’s a lot of expensive stuff that can break. Like most manufacturers, the first year of any model tends to be more problematic. Assuming they iron out the teething issues, this could turn out to be a good vehicle. FwIW, our Range Rover sport (basically the same platform) has been near flawless. Only issue is somewhat slow infotainment/ slow boot time. Engine response was somewhat non linear at first but they issued a software update that fixed that. Definitely better on initial quality than any of the bmws I’ve owned (all of which had annoying squeaks and rattles at a minimum). This feels built like a vault.

Should work great with new items.... But -if you look at the dash - will look original.
I assume with those modern parts you're running the refrigerant du jour?

There is a video that shows that in many respects it is nearly exactly the external size of the LR4. They just decided to give it more 2nd row leg room and as a result lost critical cargo space.

That's a good question - I don't know. I wouldn't be surprised if it is R-12 still. Will find out though....
