Lexus is going to make a V8 IS again!

I think this was the most surprising automotive newd I've seen in a while. Apparently, Lexus is going to introduce an NA V8 "IS500" in the fall! Gotta admire them for doing the opposite of what everyone else is doing. This seems like it might be a good choice to buy and keep around for 20 years as a "last v8".

I mean, sure, but why buy this instead of a Blackwing?

That is pretty cool, I can tell you that after having the M550 for 2 weeks the torque of an 8 cylinder is sick .. I really cannot believe how fast the car feels and I haven’t floored it yet.

The one issue with Lexis is I don’t think they make their sporty cars feel like sporty cars. They have that cool expensive coupe and the write ups were not too great ... I was disappointed.

If you're going to keep it long term, I'd rather have a 20 year old Lexus than a 20 year old Caddy.

Well the 20 year old Blackwing will probably be worth what you paid for it, if past GM niche performance vehicles are a guide.

But I see now that the IS F Sport Performance or whatever is going to be a lot cheaper. It’s targeted at the M340, not the M3. Given that? Yeah, if I were in the market for a slushie sedan I’d take a hard look at this.

It's a Lexus so it'll be a yawn fest.

LOL. My ex has a colleague with some earlier version of that car (I do not know my Lexus models beyond the basics). He thinks it’s a super car. Loves it.

There is no doubt that Lexus absolutely nails the feel that their customer base wants.
