My youngest Daughter passed her road test this morning ... I was really happy and super relieved. It is hard being we the parents need to teach them how to drive but we did get her 3 driving lessons with parallel parking being the main goal as well as guiding her to make sure we taught her correctly.
Anyway can you guess what she asked me tonight ‘Hey Dad, when can we go looking at cars’ lol ... The fun begins |

My wife pissed off my almost 17yo last night something fierce. I had just sit down and found something to watch before going to bed. My daughter said she was going for a drive and asked if I wanted to go with her. "Yeah...let me make some coffee and put some pants on." Took a trip around the Capital Beltway. Listening to her music. And her ranting. I'm generally pretty impressed with her driving and proactive planning and executing that tell me she is looking ahead, paying attention, correctly interpreting what she's seeing, and taking appropriate action. Not so wild about how quickly she starts and stops turning the wheel for lane changes, but I think she likes the cornering feel aspect of it.

Lots of exceptions...to/from work/school/religious activities, with licensed drivers of a certain age in front passenger seat, etc.

That is interesting, it sounds like in of both of your states they get more driving Privilege's at 16 though here once they hit 17 there aren't restrictions.
