Yeah, it’s funny to pull Carfax sheets on 997.2s (and 987.2s) and see them sitting at the dealers for months before being retailed.
When I bought my used 2006 in 2010, it was common to see new inventory that had been languishing. At one point, I was seriously considering a 2008 Boxster that was still new, never been titled. |

Love all the details in their listing. Interesting note about the inflation adjusted MSRP “The MSRP was $101,690, which is approximately $142,440 in today’s dollars.”. I guess a current 992S specced similarly (lightly optioned) would come in around that number. Also interesting background on how few of these were made and why the color selection is what it is. I suppose one could buy this car and probably have no depreciation beyond losing the difference between retail and trade in value. With some big maintenance and repairs done recently you could probably run it for a few years for just regular maintenance costs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If I could get an allocation my 992.1 C2S build is $157.5k. Porsche Code: PRAVRQK2 My 997.2 has lost 0, but at the same time I have invested additional monies into it via factory upgrades and annual maintenances. It really doesn’t matter as it is not going anywhere. “I know what I got!” |

Being a serial 996 owner, I think the 997.2s got it right. The DFI engines are game changers, IMO. They make the pre DFI engines seem anemic. Since the 997 is based on the 996 chassis, I think they did really well ironing out and maximizing the grip available. The six speed from the 996:997 era is clearly superior to the 7 speed in the 991s. I still have access to the hydraulic steering from the era. I know a lot is made of this but it’s not revelatory to me. But maybe that’s because I skipped the 991.1s where Porsche hadn’t really figured out EPAS yet. The driver to the wider chassis in the 991 was really the racing programs —so the grip in the 991s is really insane compared to what I remember in the 996 footprint. It’s also cool that Porsche created that PCM retrofit module. It guarantees the 997s will always be a holy grail, all around, whether it’s an S, GTS or GT3RS. High point for the 911. To me, it’s beautiful as a car and performs. I never felt like the 993 performed. And while I loved my 996s, they always felt like a beta version of a 911.
