The gauge pegs when the water level is low. It's unlikely the car would overheat in three miles. Check the water level before you freak out.

Really? I hadn't ever heard of that. I did check the level this AM and it was at min. I added about 1/2 a cup of distilled water and it came back to max. I drove a bit this am and had no issues.
