I'm sure the outcome would have been the same, but the Hellcat should have had someone who knows what they are doing behind the wheel. (or, at least, enabled the launch control)

Upgraded my NEMA 14-50 to a Tesla HPWC today. The impetus was a shock my kid got when trying to plug in the house-side 240V plug--she managed to grab the pins. (And she shouldn't have been plugging it in at all, but there was a communication breakdown on that point).
This should be a better, safer and more durable option. Sure is beefy compared to the mobile connector that comes with the car. |

So they went with stainless conduit to match the bling of the charger.

You should really install it in your garage, though. You know, so other Tesla owners can't come by and steal your killa-wattz. |

You should pop it on Plug Share... Maybe I'll come for a visit?
Edit: I've considered getting a HPWC since Tesla dropped the price a few months back. But the UMC (mobile connector that comes standard with the car) has worked fine. I leave it plugged into the 14-50 at home almost all the time -- the only time its unplugged is on road trips and when taking the car in for service (Tesla likes to inspect them...).

There are so many public chargers within a few miles of me that I don't even feel bad about my refusal to engage in the sharing economy. I offered my NEMA up when the big road trip came to DC last year and the organizers didn't even need it.

I did have them go ahead and upgrade the breaker to 100A, so the HPWC is capable of throwing out 80A of juice. Of course, my current car can't use that, but who knows? Nice to have for the future, maybe.

Just build a shed around the charger to hide it. Like a 40' by 30' size shed with a couple three openings to the east(? did I get that right?) and you'll be done. Well, I guess you'd want to put in some good flooring under that shed and the approach to the shed. Then you'll be done.

I'm thinking of a trellis. A 25' x 30' trellis. With a fully enclosed roof and walls and two doors. |
