($350 for a refurb is possible, some sellers have them new for $400 or less every day, Amazon has deals from time to time for new around $375, and Amazon's regular new price is $430)

Max $550

I think I'd probably like the Max better than the 9500ix, but I don't think I'd be $50 happier with it. From everything I've read, including Nate's latest review, it sounds nicer and more pleasant, but I don't think it really offers anything that truly makes it better than the 9500ix. Just nicer.
Stop being practical.

I might get the Max and still have the old V1 updated. We have two cars and I'd like radar detectors in both.

Then you should maybe get the Max and use it first to see if you have any interest in updating the V1.

Funny. My updated V1 arrived yesterday. $200 to replace all the insides with the latest. We'll see how it works on my trip to Ithaca on Friday. If it still freaks out at Audis, it's getting relegated to the M3 and I'll get a Passport for the X5.

sounds like a good plan.

although --i'll say that you always miss the arrows.

it's not completely rational, but it still kind of is.

seems like someone could integrate Waze into their units so they could say police reported ahead to bypass the directional arrow patent.

Max is $495 at Amazon right now. $550 at Escort's site.

There's also the Max2 now (and I don't recall seei any email from them announcing it despite getting an email or three from them almost every day).

Also, the have "The New Passport" for $349 and the 9500ix looks NLA on their site. 9500ix is $349 at Amazon today.

I don't know why I keep updating
This thread with pricing.

The New Passport does not have GPS. If you use The New Passport with Escort Live on your phone, it will use the phone's GPS. A big step down from the 9500ix, IMO, despite having a MAXlike display.
