I went to look at two GT3s over the course of a year back when they were cheap, right around the time I sold the Corvette. I could not find any actually "nice" ones for even close to that price. The cheapest one I looked at, at least that still exists in my e-mail archives, was listed for $48,900 and it had obviously been used pretty hard. Tons of stone chips, heavily worn rotors and all that.

The nice cars seemed to bottom out around $55-60k. Even at that price there was money to be made, but I couldn't convince myself to spend that much on a car

That's what I always thought, a 996 GT3 was about $55-60k. Never a car for me though...

Granted, I never actually looked at any of them, but there were certainly a number of listing of cars that looked nice enough in the 40s. $40k was probably an exaggeration. But still.

Mostly, though, I’m kicking myself for not understanding what a deal K’s old 993 C4 was when she dumped it.

Weren't you saying S54s were going for less than that, or am I making that up? Is there a reason if you were doing a swap you wouldn't just put an S54 in?

I knew you had one in there (I still regret not driving it years ago when we were in DC for the holidays), but didn't know if you had plans for another one. Did you see the e30 M3 with the S54 on BaT?
