OK, dealer replied saying:
"Price is firm. Just replaced the rear main seal and put a lot of money into it." So, you DID know something about the repair/service history then. Anyway, I suppose that's a good thing. But a bit annoyed that it wasn't mentioned when I specifically asked about the history. I don't mind paying full asking. I just hope these guys are not wasting my time and my inspection money. |

I think that’s just what you have to expect from a dealer like this. It’s not a Porsche CPO and also not “high end” used car place specializing in these types of cars. If the car is solid (no accident history or major mechanical issues) just accept the fact the dealer will be a little shady and consider it the price you have to pay to score this car for what feels like a really low price.

Fil's comment is very valid. Also, at $18k if you get it and decide you don't like it you can clean it up properly, find a better set of used tires, make a good looking for sale presentation and put it on rennlist to get your money back + some.

Not to be contrarian for contrainism’s sake, but I’d walk. Dealer isn’t up front, they’re not upfront. The dealer may not be high end, but the car isn’t ultra rare unobtanium, it’s not early sprig and you only have one more summer before a terminal disease robs you of future summer top down driving.
You’ll find something better that will be worth your time spent waiting and looking. No, I have not bought a car for myself yet, nor am I interested in this one.

I have reservations, but the last email I got saying “I’ll ask my manager to see what else was done to the car” leads me to believe I’ve been dealing with some rookie.
We’ll see. |
