Here is a recent pic of the Smokies taken from a large city park that is currently under a multimillion dollar improvement project via the Haslam family. This park is less than 10 minutes from my home. This should put things into perspective of just how close the mountains are to Knoxville.

Park plan if anyone is truly bored. lol https://lakeshoreparkknoxville.org/phase-2/

So what is left for you to drive ? Didn't you sell all of the other cars ?

As far as storing cars for the winter, I really can't see not driving my cars, I enjoy them way too much to let them sit for the winter but I do know quite a few people here as well as many other Car enthusiasts do it.

E39

Edit: Neither the 997 nor the Z3 have ever been daily drivers. That was never their intended purpose. Technically the E39 is not as well since I WFH.

Someone at TDOT must have heard Alan’s most recent question regarding winter weather in “the south.” Recently on the local news. Circles in pic #2 = salt.

FYI, the northerners that insist on purchasing preowned vehicles from the south, I have got news for you… You are not avoiding vehicles that have not been driven in salt unless the owner does not drive the vehicle after it has been applied to roads/interstates. This includes, TN, KY, NC, parts of Upstate SC, Northern GA, Northern AL.

Texas autos are typically sun baked. Catch 22… My former Imola Red ZHP was from Austin and the top surfaces were toasted. Clear coat failure had begun.

FYI, I am originally from San Antonio.

Of course given the relative infrequency of snow & ice here, especially as you go south, cars aren't going to get much salt exposure from the roads.

Rennline's E30 phone mounts were on clearance, so I broke down and put in an order. I've been eying them for a long time and didn't want them to go NLA on me.

Bonus discovery! They've finally switched to magsafe compatible non-charging mounts! Even though the website says otherwise. I'd picked up a few generic magsafe pucks, but this is easier and cheaper. (Realistically, the E30, E36, and 993 don't really need charging. The phones still get plugged in, and it's not like these are going on particularly long trips.)
