What did this guy do wrong?
Skip to the 1:45 mark. Just lift as he came over the rise? |

Slow hands.
It does look like he lifts with that first correction too. His speed drops pretty rapidly right there. Does he let go of the steering wheel? Looks like he thought he was driving a boat or an arcade game. |

Holy crap, he does. What the hell was he doing with his left hand? I didn't even look at that section of the screen the first time I saw it.

He literally just "threw" some opposite lock at the problem and hoped for the best.

Wheel turned over a crest isn't necessarily good, either. G meter suggests he was decelerating BEFORE the crest, which was probably the real problem.

Less extream reaction then that other guy who plowed his R8 into the wall that was posted here. This guy was rather calm actually.

I'm pretty sure it's not his car--I think that's one from the Porsche school.

Looks to me like the car got light over the crest, perhaps he lifted, or as Nick says, had the wheels pointed the wrong way ... who knows, it is a Porsche with a huge engine hanging out over the back wheels.
With cars like this, crap happens so fast it can be over with before you know it - I stuffed a Dodge Viper into the dirt at Lime Rock ten years ago, I still don't know exactly what happened |

Hard to tell with the camera angle, but they guy looked kind of inattentive in general.
But yeah, he reacted way too slowly to the initial slide and even more slowly to the tank slapper that resulted. He would do well to get out to an autocross and learn some basic skills. |

Almost a matter of what didn't he do wrong.
Wheel turned and decel over the crest. Slow initial correction. WAY slwo second correction. Not so sure he wasn't almost sideways with the wrong lock in. And it seems he REALLY lifted when it started to come around. Not a good idea in any car, really BAD idea in rear engine car.
