Hail sucks.
A nice 5 minute's worth of hail came through this afternoon in about golf ball size during a summer t-storm (in February)... so, does anyone know a good PDR or body shop near Baltimore?
I'd estimate 60-70+ dings on the hood, roof, and trunk of the FRS and another 40+ on the new CRV. They range in size from pinky nail to nickel. This really f***ing sucks. I've already put in my insurance claims for both cars, but any advice? |

Thanks... I'm just not sure what the answer is because some are so tiny but definitely noticeable.

There's a good PDR guy in Hunt Valley http://sdrauto.com
My truck and the m3 both have a bunch of hail damage that I haven't bothered to fix, doesn't seem worth the insurance beating. Especially considering it seems to hail with increasing frequency now. |

That bites. Hope you can fix all the damage.
I was driving from DC to Philly this afternoon and it seemed like we were on the leading edge of the storm the whole way.

Biggins, what did your insurance say? Are you getting them repaired?
A coworker got hail damage on his old-ish Audi A6 and they ended up totalling it. He took a decent sized check and he kept the car and drove it as-is. There was small damage to almost every surface on the car but it wasn't that noticeable. And it was a street parked beater anyway. |

The FRS damage was pretty significant and very noticeable. The CRV is less noticeable, but I have to get it fixed since we've only had it for 3 months. Some neighbors' cars look fine and others look way worse than both of my cars that were hit. Though, I have many oblivious neighbors who probably don't know/care that the hail storm rolled through... the worst I saw was a red Mazda3 that had to have 100+ dings. I don't doubt that his car was totaled if it was older. I would have done the same thing he did if it were the 1999 CRV that was damaged and covered under my policy. |

We have both cars back in our possession after 2.5 weeks in the shop for each car. The total damage was about $8k between the two cars. I guess the lesson learned is to have a garage.
I used the place bren suggested and their work seems good. I'm a little frustrated with how they put things back together. I had to wiggle the weatherstripping over the panels on almost every panel they took off. They also must have used their greasy hands to put it all back together because I needed to wipe down all the plastic panels and still have to get several smudges off of some upholstered pieces. Any suggestions for fabric/upholstery cleaners? |
