But you pay dearly for those virtues given that it lacks power and an LSD. And the cost ownership delta gets worse as length of ownership increases compared to BMW's (service, parts, etc). Then again, I am financially immature, but whatever.

The proof will be in the test-drive too. In the end, I just don't think the MZ4 will be faster in a straight line given how everyone raves about the Cayman engine's low end grunt and fexibility. Throw in a supposedly better sorted suspension and chassis setup and I think a Cayman S will be faster 'round a track.

If the Cayman S had the 3.6L 997 engine (325hp) and an LSD, it would be a good "value." Right now it isn't. But it's still a great, sexy car. It's just pricey.

the Cayman is a fantastic car. i'm really curious as to what will happen when the M coupe is pitted against it. (it will be fun)

there is a lot, as you wrote and we all know, that make the Cayman a phenomenal proposition. to me, it's got a nice engine....i just can't get over the part where it's positioned a little too perfectly to be wedged in between the Boxster S and the 911 base. that really bothers me.
