Congrats - also sounds like a much easier transaction that way which will probably avoid a few more headaches.

Just to loop back to this comment. I was able to turn the 22"s into a set of 20" 740Ms with Pirelli runflats, a set of 18" style 618s w/ Nokian snows and $400 cash in my pocket. I am super happy with that outcome. The 18"s are getting shipped from Mass and the 20s are just around the corner from me.

You are set. There is something very comfortable about being in the BMW ecosystem. I’m probably projecting, having had BMWs for 20 years…

Drove the convertible last night, after a hiatus. (It’s in the 70s here). And it’s just so much better than the Mazda CX-5, which is not half bad, mind you. Although it may be just half as good…

The B58 in the small car is so buttery after driving the 4-cylinder SUV. Plus, of course, lower center of gravity and adaptive suspension.

That nails it 100%. It feels homey, easy. Thee450 is objectively 'better' than the X5 in most ways, but it was a miserable experience. It really highlights what a shame it is that BMW won't bring over a 5 series wagon. A 540 wagon with x-drive and a decent sport suspension would be the perfect car.

Spot on with my feelings. I shudder to think what to replace the E91 with when it will be time to get something else. Nothing against the X variants nor those who like them, but they just aren't my style. They remind me of my tank commander days, riding high up in the turret. Great view to the vast expanse, but you lose your perspective to the terra firma below. Driving is one of the few things I still have a passion for, and I like to have a lower COG whenever possible. So wagons are just a better fit for me.

That's just my hang-up; well that along with being a snob about steering.

Considering your options I think you made a great call. I do like the external appearance of the X3 and X5, and that interior is super nice.

Hope you the frau and family (including the dogs) enjoy many safe motoring miles.
