New clutch at 55,000 miles (or fewer)? Yikes...

I love atlas gray, never got tired of that color on my 06 Cayman. However, I'd only be interested 2009+, more likely 991.

Too pricey for me, but I'm also all grayed-out. Still have the SUV, had the 997TT in Slate gray, and the eGolf was silver and now Miata grayish silver. Next car for me needs a bit of life even with the M3 bringing up the average.

Agreed that the color scheme is the least likable aspect...Inoffensive, but unexciting.

There’s a Lava Orange 2017 718s here with a manual. But I doubt anyone in this group is motivated by the 4 cylinder...

The gray one is really nicely spec'd out. I don't love the color. But a manual, six cylinder car? I'm in.

Here’s a link to the Lava Orange 718s. A year younger, half the miles, and it’s $10,000 cheaper. So, I’d say the market agrees with you JV.

I had that replaced under warranty last month. Yesterday I took it for a drive and had an awesome first 25 miles. I stopped to pick up some groceries for about 10 mins and hopped back in the car to head home. When I left the store, I got literally a quarter mile away when the water temp had climbed to 250 and I got a water temp overheat warning on the dash. I was able to immediately pull into a parking lot, shut the engine down, open the rear cover and run the heater. The oil temp never got above 198 so I'm not too worried about damage (should I be?). The water temp came back to about 200 in a few minutes. The weird thing (besides how quickly the water temp shot up) was the cooling fans above the engine never kicked on. I also didn't hear any radiator fan noise from the front of the car. I looked under the car and everything was dry, so it didn't dump all the coolant somewhere either.

After it cooled, I restarted it, to see if maybe the water pump was stalled and the restart would get it turning again and drove the 1/4 mile back to the grocery store lot. In the 90 seconds it took me to make that drive the water temp went from 192 to 248. Experiment over, I shut it down and called my dealership to arrange a roadside assistance tow.

I should hear later today what's up. I'm assuming it is something related to the water pump fix, but not loving being left on the side of the road. It feels like 2001 e46 aux fans all over again.
This happened again today. I'm up in NY, the car has sat up here for a week. I took it out for a drive and within 3 miles, the water temp gauge pegged at the top. The oil temp gauge hadn't even started warming up yet. I pulled over and shut it off. Pretty quickly the water temp came down to about 210 and the front radiator fans were running full speed. I re-started and tried to drive a bit more and the water temp gauge shot up again. Pulled over a 2nd time and let it cool some more. This time the water temp came down to 194 - that is the standard operating temp for the coolant and stabilized as the oil temp warmed up to normal. I started it up and drove back home. Everything was fine. It was pretty cold up here today (mid 50s) so I am wondering if the coolant level was a little low, or if there was another air bubble that needed burping in the heater core (i had the heat cranked up). I'll drive it some tomorrow to see if it re-occurs. It's been almost 4 months since the last water temp spike incident and 3000 miles.

I was planning on driving it home Sunday evening. Now I'm a bit nervous.

Would you consider it another 'burp' or would you not drive it 280 miles home?
