One is doing themselves a disservice when ordering the ventilated seats on a T as they lose the standard Sport-Tex and the 911 embroidery. Last edited by SCA; 11-06-2023 at 07:56 PM. |

idk- I love me some ventilated seats and a sunroof! Was curious so I just tried configuring an S and T with the options I'd want (including sunroof, ventilated seats, 14 ways seats (or 18 on the T since 14s aren't available) and BOSE). It's still about $12k more for an S and I personally wouldn't care about the extra power...so why spend the extra 12k. I get that the T is supposed to have a "philosophy" behind it, but as long as the T is the lowest price way to get a manual 911 it still might be worth it to some to just ignore that philosophy and spec the T out w/ some comfort and convenience stuff (which are all optional on the S as well anyway). I realize this is heresy to some. Of course one should always check their homewwork and make sure they haven't somehow come up with a spec where the price differences is neglible (as in your $3k example earlier). I do like the way the sport-tex T seats look but would rather sit on leather seats so even that wouldnt really be a loss to me. Porsche should just cut the crap and let people spec the manual on a base 911. They still allow pretty much any other crazy customization so why not a manual.

My actual T build is $20k less than how I would spec an S. There is nearly 10% of extra taxes on that extra $20k too.

A T is definitely geared towards the purist/enthusiast with lightweight glass, less sound deadening, no rear seats, and standard manual trans. “T ethos” as often stated on RL.

I get that. But the reality is also that the T is effectively the base 911 now if you want a manual. If Porsche really cared about preserving the purity of the T, they'd allow the manual to be specced on the base 911 and keep dilettantes like me from buying them

This will probably come as a surprise to many, but a base Carrera allocation is difficult to come by as well. Last edited by SCA; 11-07-2023 at 07:18 AM. |
