Yeah, my assumption is that you trade in the Macan to Darien, but with an understanding that Porsche will then buy it from them.



In other news (just to crap up your thread) what a crock of shit it is that trade ins avoid sales tax but private sales don't. It's a big fat tax incentive for sleazy middleman stealerships.

On the Macan side, it only took a few hours after my cars.com ad went up. A porsche dealer to contacted me. They couldn't give me what I'm asking, but they can do the 3-way trade, so with the tax benefit that becomes equivalent to me selling privately at my asking. I said I priced it aggressively.

Congrats! My 2 with the adaptive suspension, LSD, and B58 feels very close to the E46 M3. Except of course for the crappy steering , which feels like my 2001 e46, before the steering fix.

At any rate, I love my car and it’s really defused my lust for anything else.

That's a great spec, I see now why you like it so much. The 2015-2016 updates to engine & chassis seem considerable. Given how strong the b58 is, LSD is very nice to have (if not essential) on the RWD. Not cheap though.

I felt a strong similarity to the e46 M3, in terms of size, general tightness of the steering (especially coming from an f10) and of course better power and ride.

I don't think that would work as it would make the BMW un-certified, see below.

I'm thinking Saturday for the ceremonies but not set in stone yet. Might wait till March/April to sell the 5 - if I can let go of it. There are good reasons to not rush (winter tires, spare and roof rack in hand e.g.). I really should do the deed when the time comes, but I always have trouble parting with cars I've kept more than two years. The 5's are big girls with big hearts.

The two dealers have to figure out exact order/logistics. I have some ideas on how it should work, but I'm not going to dictate as long as we are set on numbers.

First indication from the selling BMW dealer was that they may want the Macan in person at their shop for the pass through. Stupid, but perhaps them are the rules. Porsche dealer is simpler, they'll cut a check when they get a car. I'd like to avoid going to CT first, then down to NY LI, back up to CT and all that to/from NJ. That would be a tiring day worst case. Oh well, I guess I could do it for $2400 in tax savings.
