But I had a good time and am happy enough with the car as it was that it was all good.
That's great.

It's just about the fact that I can't just keep my hands at roughly 9 and 3 at all times. I suspect if I went directly from the RX-8 to the Camaro, I wouldn't think anything of it. The steering in Bren's C4 and the Focus ST are just so ridiculously quick, that everything else seems lazy.

He told me he felt there was enough risk to his dealership and their franchise in giving me that document he would let me walk and give me a check for the gas I used to get there and what it would take to get home.

It's kind of believable, but I have no idea if that's true or not, but I put my faith in the system because it didn't feel like I had much other choice. One of the things that made me question was that he said the car had to first be issued an OH title which would then be transferred to MD and that the third party would take care of all that.

Until it's all done, I'm leery.
And when I bought the car 60 days ago, he also said there's a requirement it all be done with the owner receiving the right paperwork within 45 days, but in instances like this, it sometimes takes an additional couple days. Like I just said, it's been 60 days. I still don't have title, registration, etc.

Waiting for a response after pinging them this morning.

So, it's 69 days now?

No response to the email I sent referenced above. No response to the voicemail I left two days later.

60 minute response to the followup email I sent yesterday that also cc'd the dealership's general manager.

Short version is it looks like they fucked it up in completely avoidable ways. Ways that I expressed concerns about at the time and they blew off.

I'm pretty ticked.

To be continued...

Yikes. Scary stuff. When will it be time for a letter to the attorney general's office?

Hopefully, I won't have to take that or similar steps.

Edit (5/2) - Just noticed typo. "[W]on't" was spelled as "would", which was wrong.

Yeah, I didn't catch all the details, but about a week ago an ex politician in the Greenville area was just sentenced to jail for selling (used) cars he didn't have titles to

That's not a bad idea. When I bought my Talon in '95 it was missing the Monroney sticker and I had to threaten the dealer with 15 U.S. Code § 1233 (c) to get them to order a reprint from Chrysler. Of course, this was the same dealer that reattached the instrument cluster with drywall screws after they botched a recall for the fuel tank. I posted that story here.

Did you check with Chevy to make sure they fixed the in-service date?
