Yes the feet will sink in dirt. I have one of those and a more traditional round tube rack. Both have sunk. The cover on that one is much nicer and easier to deal with than the tarp I put on the other rack.

In my experience, the tarps always blow off. Even when "secured" with bungee cords, etc.

Bungees, ropes, and logs on top. Stupid thing still blows off.

I believe it was Motor Trend who did a truck comparo not too long ago between The Big Three's off-road edition pickups. Iirc, the order of finish was:

1. Dodge Ram

2. Chevrolet Colorado

3. Ford Raptor

Man, I'd love to get my hands on a Raptor. I think it's the best-looking rig out there, but can't really justify the outrageous price.
