yeah it did read that way to me too but they told me a full new transmission. I think they just reused the supporting hardware.

yeah, it seemed like a catastrophic failure since there was no warning signs as far as I know before it failed like grinding and such.

Other page lists this part number

https://parts.vw.com/p/volkswagen__G...2Q300054C.html

says assembly but $ 4,239.60 I hope it is everything, maybe Nick can translate.

Also lists automatic as sharing the part Surprised DCT fits inside same assembly but I guess that reduces cost at least. I know Porsche uses the same for the 7MT but I think they had to put a lot of effort.

Nah. They just bolted on the ancillary parts that attach to the trans.

This describes it as a full transmission. Still odd about the AT fitment.

I do think Porsche uses same assembly for the 7 gears, whether it is PDK or it is the 7sp manual. They call the mechanical adapters MECOSA, remember? To keep the traditional H pattern intact.

I dont think VW is the same since AT is 7 vs 6 for the MT

Yeah I remember reading that most Audi/VW products with dual clutch transmissions use an in-house design (I think there are a few depending on application) but Porsche uses a ZF unit.

And yeah, I remember reading (when the 991 first came out) that they use the same basic transmission for manual and PDK...

What is your thinking on this, Jeff? Care to start a poll about whether you should go ahead with the buyout?
