I've always had a lot of love for the Pantera. There was a guy that lived by my high school that had one in a garage that opened to an alley we walked through every day. He would let it idle there and I couldn't focus on class.

I got a ride in one when I was 7 or 8 with a friend of my father's who was a big shot at Ford and then left to become a bigger shot at Chrysler. Same color as this one. That car absolutely blew my mind. I still remember that ride.

Didn't one of the major car magazines do a buyers guide to Panteras a couple years ago? I remember making a mental note to remember it just in case, but that's all I remember.

Fuck. Now I want one. And did I mention my Corvette buyer finally finished paying me last weekend and I signed the title over?

There was a Ford dealership that sold Pantera's in the early 70's in Norwalk, CT - we used to go there on Sundays and ogle the cars - I think the window sticker was 10 grand in 1973.

Then we'd head over to Westport to take a look at the Citroen SM's - slightly more money at 13 grand and change.

My neighbor had one when I was growing up. Black with the big wing on the back. It was definitely cool then. Now there's a local guy who owns an Italian restaurant nearby. He has a collection of less than pristine 80s super cars including a 2nd gen Esprit, a 4 seat 308 and a Pantera. All drivable, but not really pretty. Kind of takes the 'specialness' away.
