37K, which is high end of market for a 987.2 but isn't crazy given the low number of miles on this car. 987s remain "affordable" as Porsches go; they haven't seen the spike up in price that nearly every 911 (save the 996) has seen.

And, thanks, yeah. My car is in really good shape for a 14 year old car, and I've had it for more than 10 years now, so one thing that's nice is that I know its history really well. And part of me thinks that keeping it and doing something goofy like putting in a 3.8 would be the right move if anything ever happens to the engine. But another part of me thinks that's silly.

You’re going to over think it like we all do but 25k miles on a 2011 Boxster is really low and the price I don’t think is anything crazy ... plus the used car market is hot now and you have a VERY desirable used car to sell so you will do well on that end.

Josh .. no bs you’re ‘almost’ hooked so when you see this car in person if it passes your in person look over and drive this might be the right car.

Not sure I can deal with white, but otherwise it's a great spec. Would be nice to have the 9A1 engine and the sport seats, and 25K fewer miles and 5 years newer than my current car is nice, too.

But.

I really have grown to love the blue over blue. It's a special color combo that I'm not sure I've ever seen anywhere else.

And the '11 would be a lot more money; figure just under double what I could reasonably get for the '06.

On the other, other hand, if I'm going to keep something long(er) term, I'd rather have a 987.2. And I really am going to have to put new struts on my car if I keep it, which is probably 3-4K.

I'd pay reasonably more money for a 981, but they are hard af to find.

What would you do?

Wait, what? Are you getting a 987.2? Send the link.

I would have a hard time buying a 987.2 to replace a .1, especially when you've had it for so long. I'd want something new. I say that as someone who really loves the 987.2.

Having said that, I'm not sure I'd get rid of my car for a vanilla 981.

Link here. It’s the one from up thread.

https://www.carmax.com/car/19378333

The nice thing about CarMax is that for $100 they’ll bring it here and hold it until I can go look at it. Not a bad price for that.

We’ll see. It’s been a long time since I drove a .2 back to back with my car. It may end up the difference is small enough that it’s not worth doing. Or the car might be a dog.

Maybe I’ll submit mine to BaT. That would be kind of fun.

For several years I was barely driving the Porsche and replacing it was nonsensical. Now the youngest kid is old enough to ride in it and insists on doing so, so I’m driving it a lot more (even given the pandemic).

It might even make sense to buy a car like equ’s and ditch the M3 in favor of something my other kid could drive in a couple of years. But decently spec’d 981s are hard to find and $$$, so maybe just a new 987 makes sense.

Or not! Idk. We’ll see.

As has been mentioned in a number of threads, its a really bad time to be a used car buyer right now. I'd say if you're thinking of a 981, prices are so close, maybe shop for a 991 'vert, but there is no inventory on the market right now. OTOH you've always wanted a 911, so maybe this is the time to hold out and find one.

The offer to spend some time with mine stands. I'm getting new rear tires on Thursday, and it is probably going to NY for winter storage in early November, so if you're not doing anything this weekend...

The 911 is such a different car than the Boxster, I have a hard time thinking it would be a reasonable substitute for Josh, but interested to hear from him on it.

I was about to post the same thing about the used car market. It seems like a great time to be a seller and not necessarily a buyer. Could you sell your Boxster now before the season is over, sit on the cash, and then try to get back into the market in the spring?
