Those plugs actually don't look that bad (for having 120k on them).

Putting in the diff from an auto trans E46?

I did that in my 330 back in the day. Made 1st a lot shorter, but a lot more fun too.

Too bad there (AFAIK) is no plug and play OEM LSD available anywhere.

Swapping to a 3.15 out of a manual-trans 325i/Ci. I actually just found one at the local pick 'n pull this morning and brought it home with me.

No factory LSD available but the aftermarket stuff is pretty easy to set up if you have the right tools.

I didn't want super short. I do a lot of highway cruising a like to be a little lazy with the shifting.

But I'm done with one-wheel-peel when accelerating around a corner. I can't believe I didn't so it sooner actually.

Ahh, so the other way. Will this really change that pegleggery? Because it's "taller" so a little less torque off the line?

You can go too short IMHO. My e46 325it was too short, very busy shifting and freeway was high rpm . Would of been OK with 6mt I think though.

No no, it's shorter than the original 2.93. Just not a lot. The new 6th gear rpms will be about half way between the previous 5th and 6th.

Given that I have a 6-speed I could have gone way shorter, but... meh.

Oh I see, I misunderstood.

It's been a long time since I thought about this--was a 3.15 diff part of the ZHP setup?
