It would be nice to do that, but I've never been in a position to and I doubt I ever will.

In every other use case it just seems ill suited. It's not a good track car, it's too fast and powerful to use on the street, it can putter along in traffic but it's wholly wasted (and it likely gets terrible gas mileage) and on and on. I just don't see the reason to have it over a "normal" 911, even if you want an automatic.

But I guess if you're not happy driving the Mercedes in traffic and want something sportier, it is an option.

I wouldn't get the Club Coupe. It looks like fun but it's way too much stress having a "collectible" car that you're trying to keep pristine for the next owner/resale purposes. And I'd feel even worse every time I scratched that car than I do when I scratch my current POS 987.1.

IDK. Maybe the Turbo will hold its value, maybe not. I wouldn't be surprised if it did. But I also think you have to be prepared to lose 20 percent or so, just because that seems like what used cars lose in any normal market. And 20 percent of 150K is...not so far off what the 987 is worth. In other words, with your base that high, small variations in residual are going to lead to very large swings in absolute terms.
Thank you for all of your thoughts, btw. I appreciate them.

$130K (and rising) of 991.2 C4S parked around the corner from my house this morning. Pretty nice - has the 7spd, sports exhaust, and the 18 way seats. Please also enjoy the unflattering reflection of me in the window as I tried to take a few pictures while carrying breakfast for the family in the other hand (also the reason for the Stuka-style photos).

No problem! Re-reading that I think I was in a grumpy mood, but I largely stand by the sentiment. I think you should get whatever appeals to you, and I can see your argument for wanting a PDK...but if you're going to do that I'd get a base or S used PDK, keep the 987.2, and save a boatload of cash long term.

Nice color. I'd have it. Wouldn't be thrilled to park it on the street in beantown though lol

To be honest, I couldn’t own a new 911 back in Boston. The roads are shit and the highways are chronically choked.

My god those hips are sexy. Subtly so, but I mean come on.

The car looks good too. j/k

They really know what the fuck they are doing. Long way from the lost late 80s.

I need work on shedding my non-sexy covid hips - I'd prefer to leave the widebody option to the C4S / GTS.

Clyde and JST and Nick and FC know this already, but it’s worth saying again —I’m an incredibly shallow person.

It would bother me to have the T when I know the Turbo exists.
