As to insurance costs....

I had a friend at work who went from an M3 to 911 GT2 (early 2000's) and found the insurance on the Porsche was MUCH less than the BMW.

I find my 911 is about the same to insure as my Escalade and other (newer) vehicles. I did price out M3/M4 insurance a couple of years ago and found those cars were significantly more expensive to insure than other similarly valued cars. My insurance guy says the loss rate (payout $$ for claim) are among the highest of any car they cover (compared to vehicle value).

I suspect, as a whole, much younger driver profile with the M cars.

OK, I just went through 5,000+ photos of the trip and picked a few dozen (not just of my car).

Should I upload them all here in a series of posts?

First, to warm up, photos of cars I saw while there (I will link this to the other thread).

A few notes:

- I have a full video of that volvo getting hoisted onto the truck. Pretty awesome.
- The Jeep in Interlaken was a sight.
- That RS6 Avant is BAD-ASS
- My favorite Corvette spotted on the first day in Munich
- The GT3RS looked awesome
- Even more awesome is the super-stealthy GT2RS
- Cool looking P-SUV at the garage of the P-car museum.
- An Alfa Stevio at the, yes, top of the Stelvio Pass.

(can't seem to be able to fix the sideways GT3RS photo - weird)

Photos of/from Muesums, Welt, etc.

Notes:

- I had been looking at/reading about that specific BMW motorcyle last year and it happened to be outside the Welt.
- Cool poster with a jab at MB
- Neat BMW badge display
- Boys playing car games at the Welt. They also loved the Isetta.
- (my) Nico standing in front of a display about Nico (Rosberg) at MB museum
- Me in front of my old MB (my first car). Actually, that was Nicolas Cage's car. Weird.
- Got to sit on a 911R. Pretty awesome. Sad how abused it was.
- Boys with Sally at the P-car museum. Pretty cool.
- 918 Spyder is amazing in person.

Photos of the car...

First, a link

https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...17&postcount=2

... if you can still see it at the 'fest.

We happened to stay at that random village we had driven to 14 years ago, so I took a photo in the same spot. Also uploaded the shot of the ZHP for those who don't want to go to the 'fest.

Notes:

- They now have this weird, personalized virtual tour of your car before you get it. They just tell you how awesome your car is.
- Car at a German dealership getting its break-in service
- token shot of Stelvio road ribbon
- Other shots of Grossglockner and Susten passes.
- filling up in the Black Forest.
- Token shot of car with Neueschwanstein in the background.
- Shot at the top of Edelweissspitze - the car is in the background. That was a crazy drive - super narrow, tight, cobble-stoned path to the peak.
