Audi Identify Theft commercial
There's a series of these, but this is maybe the best one:
Of course, the Q5 is itself a fairly bland combination of generic "crossover" attributes, the styling is far from unmistakable, and a black Audi isn't really very iconoclastic--but these commercials are still pretty good. I love the line of identical silver RX300s. Looks like the garage in my office. |

The lease on my wife's X3 is up in Sept. We've just started to take a look at replacements, and the Q5 is at the top of the list right now...

The other night, one of these Q5 commercials was immediately followed by a Lexus RX commercial.

I may do a q5 intro event in a couple of days (not interested in the q5, just some silly weekend thing to do). The time I did the q7 event, I ended up hating that suv.

Isn't the Q5 just a rebadged Tiguan?

I thought so at first, too, but ZBB set me straight--it's built off the A4 platform, rather than the A3/Golf, so it has a N/S engine layout and is larger than the Tiguan.
The Tiguan remains a moderately intriguing product, to me--it's available with a stick, at least in the down-market versions, and it's not very big. Still, I struggle to see why one would get a Tiguan over, say, a Jetta wagon or even a GTI. |

The tiguan is a good bit more hideous than the q5, especially with the front overhang.

Found it. Not that exciting. the long line of silver nothings was mildly amusing.

Before they both came out, I thought they were on the same platform. Then I saw a Tiguan in person, and thought that Audi would be nuts to try to sell a Q5 based on the Tiguan -- the Tiguan is really small. I later read that they were on different platforms (Tiguan = Golf/A3, Q5 = A4/A5). We stopped to take a quick look at the Q5 last Fri -- its really a nice size. Marginally larger than the X3. Overall, its really nice looking -- great interior. Even the gaping Audi grille has evolved a bit to be better looking than the first incarnations. We then poked around at VW, and the Tiguan really looked tiny after just sitting in the Q5... I don't think we'll even bother sitting in it...
