I can even remember when I first 'taped' my plate. I had just bought the car, about to go in for state inspection... Know a great tint dude, got him to take off my front side tints (illegal in NJ) and he recommended it. His words were "I and the rest of the STi crew have been rocking this for years. It'll be fine."

I don't mind the way the offset plate looks. You get used to it. The problem with the non-robust tow hook mounts is that they don't stand up to snow and/or car washing well.

Personally, as much as I hate front plates, I'd probably just mount the stock mount and forget about it.

A non-drilled front bumper makes the car more saleable.

My Miata didn't have a front plate. It "fell off". And when it fell off it apparently hit the ground pretty hard (repeatedly), scratched up, dented, with the mounting brackets bent. The works. Fortunately I "found it" and stuck it in the trunk to remount it someday. It was there in case an officer commented on it. . . I did have the front plate with me, after all. . . it just . . . fell off recently.

On the BMW I didn't mind the way the front plate mounted. It seemed fine to me so I've kept it on.

The Jeep. . . don't really care. Though I think the plate gets mangled from time to time since I scrap the front bumper on rocks.

I ended up bending the edges of my plate to conform with the shape of the bumper on my wrangler.

That's an option, put a horizontal bend in it and wrap it under the bumper. I was going to do that but before I got around to it I bent the plate on the rock. Since it's now "out of the way" I've left it as is.

I had no front license plate on both of our cars (E46 & E90) for 3.5 years after we moved back to MD from PA with no issues (even after being pulled over for something else).
Then in a span of 3 months I got pulled over twice, one a warning, the second one a $60 or $70 fine and a warning that the third time might be much higher or something like that.

I've been rocking front license plates for the past 5 months now and don't mind anymore.

We don't have front plates on any of our BMWs. We got one ticket on the Roadster coming back from Homecoming on Labor Day weekend, crossing the Rt 301 bridge. A VERY bored MTA police officer.

We still don't have front plates on them.

So, have any of you actually priced the license plate bracket for the front plate? At least for the E60, it's $70. Plus paint.

Lolwtf.
