New E60 M5 6M is laughable
Just got the new C/D, which has a review of the new 6 speed manual M5--actually, a comparo with the S6 and the E63.
The M5 loses. To both the Audi and the Merc. Why? Because on the 6M cars, YOU CAN'T DISABLE STABILITY CONTROL. W. T. F? I mean, seriously. I would like someone at BMW NA to show me a Venn diagram of the people who a) want a manual transmission, but b) don't care about ever pushing the car hard enough to want to disable the electronic nannies. Are there, what, 5 people like that? That might be optimistic. Is BMW going to sell ANY M5s with a manual? Why go to the time and expense of retrofitting a manual if you are going to destroy its marketibility that way? Fucking lame. |

Let's hope that's not how it works on the E90 M3.

that's something that sounds so Lexus. doesn't it?
i wonder if they'll see the error of their ways and soon retrofit a disabling mechanism. BMW is stupid, but they've shown a tendency to go back and make it right. sometimes.

As each new M3 variant was introduced, I loved the look more with each new model.
Until now. Before it was developed, I had always planned on buying the new one at some point. Now, I'm pretty sure I won't. Alex

I have heard that BMW has noticed just how much this pisses people off, and will be offering a "retrofit." Don't know if it's true, though.
