Portimao is a little bit darker and deeper blue vs. Estoril.

(fun fact, the namesake tracks are only a few hours away from each other)

I do like Estoril a lot but I think it works better on smaller cars. I never liked it on E46 M3s and I suspect it wouldn’t have been great on the G42. I do tend to prefer royal blue so I’d say Portimao > Estoril

I think San Marino Blue would probably be my favorite BMW blue at the moment.


I also loved Misano Blue on the M2 CS. I thought that color was perfect for the car. Seemed very similar to Shark blue

I loved Estoril on my 2, but actually may be over those lighter blues. I do remember Estoril on the E39 5 series. Lovely, but possibly not enduring?

I hate to say it, but now that my son washed the 4, I am digging BSM again. When it’s clean, it’s stunning. Plus, red leather interior. Feels pretty classic, if high maintenance.
