Anybody ever use Carmax to sell a car?

Planning on getting rid of the 6 in the next few months... maybe (waffle, waffle)

Do you get better than trade-in value from carmax? We're not staying with Mazda, so we won't get a great deal on a trade-in and I'd rather not deal with private party.

I'm looking at Carmax, but I've never dealt with them before.

It depends. If you have a relatively new late-model car with low mileage, you will usually get a good offer. But don't take their word as gospel; shop around. If you plan to trade in for a different car, go to Carmax before you go to the dealer.

I have had decent luck with consignment selling in the past - used car dealers that will take care of advertising, selling, paper work, test drives and so on for either a flat fee or a percentage of the sale. In fact, I think I told them I wanted a certain amount and they could have anything more than that. It's worth looking into if you aren't happy with the Carmax offer.

Carmax is cleaner and done right away though.
