Well, so would I, all else equal. But for the price difference, I'm not sure I could justify a new M3 v. a ZHP, esp. if you figure that with the extra money you could buy something like an older Miata to use on the weekends.

A one year old M3, OTOH, makes a bit more sense.

I keep trying to justify this. I'm driving one this weekend.

I've never even driven an E46. aranoid: The E36s I've driven felt kinda cushy, even the E36 M3. The E30 is plenty comfy for long trips.

I'll have to wait to buy one 4-5 years old.

Yeah, but when you get to be my age...

There's a difference between "plenty comfy" and "zen-like perfection." At 85 mph on the highway, the 330 is closer to the latter than the former.

Didn't mean to turn this into (yet another) E46 330 v. <insert car here> thread. I was just impressed with the overall competence of the 330, especially on the highway.

hitting two nerves with one post.

both the m3 and the 330 people are diehard enthusiasts but there is no denying that the 330 is a great automobile in any form.

if the biggest complaint is the DBW throttle delay, that is a simple $349 fix that honestly and indisputably works (shark injector software). i will always disagree with people who think the Z H P package is overpriced because i think it's a great package. it improves on a great car in a way that i would choose if i were spending my money on aftermarket parts.
