No, they are saying now that there will be a RWD/MT version, called "Pure" or something. It's potentially an interesting choice (and may really end up being the last BMW manual sedan), but ugh that nose is awful.

At this point, with the Genesis and Accord canceled, the only MT sedan I can think of until the M3 comes back is the WRX--and maybe a Civic Si?

There's some Youtuber who has a video of him driving a pre-production M3 with a manual. Looked and sounded good to me.

Jetta?

And what's with this switchable RWD/AWD coming up on the new M5? Didn't I read that somewhere?

I just find it amazing that even the Miata is strongly rumored to go Hybrid. That will add weight and complexity which is obviously antithetical to the car's mission.

I read the “pure” model with the stick will be rwd only and only get the lower hp engine. Which I’m sure just like all the S55 versions is just a tune from the factory.

At some point, I read that the base G80 would be not terribly different than my ZCP F80 (RWD+MT) with not much more power. I doubt that. I imagine that if the ZCP F80 had 444hp, the base G80 will probably have 475hp or so. It has to get a 30-40hp bump at least. I can see the higher powered variants with easily over 500hp.

Right. Isn't that what those engines are doing in the X3M variants?

Yes. 473 hp base/503 Competition.

Unless the new one is a lot heavier than the old one, 50 or so more hp isn't really what the car needs. I mean more power is always more better, but a lot of power is something the F80 is already pretty good on.
