It doesn't look any better out on the road.

But at the same time there's something "fuck traditional designs, let's drive over everything" intriguing about it.

Survey of a bunch of 200 Tesla truck fanbois. Still remotely interesting.

They managed to appeal to the market of non-truck owning, non-ev owning people who like to go camping.

IMO, these design elements look good on cars like the Countach or Esprit, and even then that's kind of stretching it.

This was on Jalopnik within a day... Especially the lower picture with the integrated ramp... Pretty cool if someone made it - but at a reasonable compact size and without the Prepper/Bulletproof/Hummer-ish nonsense..

I still don't see the truck succeeding. I know one guy who has a deposit - he was laughing about it. He needs nothing f150 sized cannot fit it anywhere. I think Tesla should have started with compact sized one. Their audience is much more urban than rural.

Part of me thinks your right. But don't underestimate Tesla mania.

Far more full size trucks sell each year than mid sized. So big trucks is the bigger market. But you're right, this is going after a different demographic. The big truck should still do OK in the nearby suburbs. And bigger vehicles have bigger profit margins.

The problem with smaller trucks is that you need to either a) have a tiny bed, or b) have 911-like rear seats. A truck that has roomy back seats and also has a 6'6" bed is actually really impressive.

All true... I live in a very different America than most full-size buyers, so I really don't know much.

Yeah, I completely disagree with Tesla starting with a small pickup. There is absolutely no market that I can see for an upmarket compact to mid-size pickup. At all. This is a $40k to the moon price range vehicle. Making it smaller wouldn’t change the price bracket.
