All cleaned up, new batteries, starter, cooling system flushes (truck has front and rear heaters) and is now posted for sale in a couple of RV and truck forums

Here's a pic of all them together. Rising blue and Cobalt blue are very similar, but not the same--Rising Blue is brighter, while Cobalt has more purple in it.
Your neighbors must LOVE you.

Love the fleet.

But it's kind of disturbing to think that the Porsche cost less than the VW.

My cars are all yellow right now. I can't wait for some rain to come and knock down all this pollen!

I wonder if that would make a good NYC commuter.

Good luck with the sale!

The Porsche is the cheapest car I own. It's actually the cheapest car I've owned in a while--it cost less than the Countryman, too. Which makes it pretty hard to think about upgrading it.

As much as I dig the VW (and I do--it sort of reminds me most of an E36 M3, partly because of the upright driving position and very firm, supportive seats), the Porsche is so, so good. I drove it around a bit yesterday and the responsiveness and tactility of the clutch, throttle and steering are just in another dimension compared to the BMW and the VW. It's like getting into a car and having someone plug a telephatic link into your brain.

Looks like I found a buyer in less than 24 hours! (maybe I should have asked for more $$ ??)

13'4" tall, 27' long, air suspension axles, cab, and seats would make for a smooth ride to NYC, but good luck parking it!

Here are all this pictures I posted to sell it if anyone is interested in looking. (laptop is not included, but the laptop holder is. . .it is the same laptop holder as they use in police cars)

Picked it up last Wednesday, but have not had much opportunity to drive it yet. So far, the fun factor is in between the X5 and the M3. It's sporty (although the steering is a tad too weighty), handles nicely (although it hopped over some rough road that the M3 barrels through), and the sport seats are the next best thing to the comfort seats we had in the 5 wagon. Power seems just fine.

It's a little small for a true, do-everything family car (hence, we'll be keeping the X5); my father-in-law, who's 6'4", can barely snug in under the sunroof. But as a secondary car with more practicality than a sedan, it's just great. We think it'll haul two dogs in the cargo area, but certainly not three without at least one rear seat down.

But the conclusion is that BMW really needs to bring the 5 wagon back--in RWD form and with some decent power. The turbo 6 or a diesel 6 cylinder would be fine. Then we'd have a real argument to ditch the X5.
