ZZB, there is only one color red, correct? I saw a red one (sort of burgundy color) near Hatteras lighthouse on Sunday

Looked good!

(but I still can't get past the nose looking like a Renault Caravelle)

The Model 3 only comes in one red, called Multi-Coat Red, which is also avail on the S and X. It’s more of a bright red, not burgandy

Tesla offered a different red that was a bit more burgandy — called Signature Red. Was only available to “signature” reservation holders on both the X and S. Perhaps you saw a Sig S — the 3 and S are very similar looking... Here’s a link to a pic:

Interesting on VINs, but they aren’t sequential anymore, are they?

Nope. Guess this proves it.

I’m guessing they are doing batches of 5-10k with similar specs. I saw another P on the lot here — was also a 55xxx vin...

There's a boat load of them in the overflow lot at by dealer.

Yeah, that's a lot of cars.

A colleague that also ordered one a few weeks before me (also a P, not sure about PUP) also is scheduled for 9/29. Sounds like they are working to get them out the door before end of quarter.

The 056XXX thing is a little weird, since over on TMC they've got VINs in the 100K plus range. I don't have a good sense for how they'd assign them other than sequentially, but am just going to assume "my" car wasn't built 6 months ago.

I know they produce in chunks. Maybe they assigned vins to a chunk, then the chunk production got reprioritized?

And yes this overflow lot is pretty cool. A pile of cars, both inside and out. One thing that's interesting... I couldn't find a single 20" wheel on the lot. I guess those are coming later in Sept.

And this is before the "giant shipment of 400+ vehicles" that my sales guy talked about arrives.
