All 3 BMW's in my family do this from time to time for no apparent reason.

I periodically had to add coolant to my 2002 330i. Once a year right at this time--just when the cold nights begin.

Speaking of coolant... I am currently sitting at a Center having a coolant flush preformed, along with the annual low mileage oil/filter change.

The interesting thing I learned this morning is BMW now claims their coolant is lifetime.
