I don't know where they are getting the data; Tesla doesn't report monthly sales and the quarterly report is next week.

There was a plant shutdown in July to retool and expand production. That may have slowed deliveries some for this quarter. There may also be some demand shifted out now that they've announced (but haven't started delivering) the AWD models.

But, again, what's the source of the data?

Certainly drove the stock down, but not as much as it would if this was true.

Estimating deliveries has been something of a sport over at the Tesla boards. Some people have been pretty close, but it's always a guessing game since the official numbers happen only once a quarter.

Others have been pointing at the revised lease program (with a 3 month satisfaction guarantee) as an "incentive."

I think it's wrong to interpret this as an incentive. Tesla's leasing programs were pretty terrible. This might just be leveling the playing field. Also, could Tesla do subvented leases through a third party bank? Not sure what the regs are there.

Looked at the site just now and I still don't understand the advantage of leasing one vs the loan with the buy back guarantee. Factoring in the upfronts on the lease and the loan is basically the same amount. And you miss out on the federal tax credit - I'm assuming the lease number is only comparable due to a higher residual. Atkeast with the loan you would've built more equity while paying the same.

I think they need to do better if they are serious about leasing.

Then again, craptastic leases don't seem to hurt Audi
