I parked the 2500HD in a "low emissions vehicle only" spot at my orthopedic surgeon's office after my last knee surgery.

It's lower emissions than SOMETHING, certainly.

So... As I mentioned in the Mustang thread, the Tesla is in the shop today for a tire rotation. They just called, and the tread depth is now 3/32 all around, so its time to replace the tires.

Any thoughts on what to get?

The car came with Goodyear Eagle RS-A2s, which are high perf all season. I'm guessing its been discontinued though -- not avail at either Costco or Discount Tire. But Tire Rack has them for $115 each right now ($99 off...). Even with shipping ($22) and mount/balance (Tire rack is quoting $15-25 at local shops), a new set would be just over $600. Tesla is quoting $930 if they do it...

The other OEM tire option is Michelin Primacy MXM4, which is a low rolling resistance tire -- so would give about a 3% range increase. But they are $269/tire at both Discount and Tire Rack. So ~$1150 installed (plus tax). 3% extra range isn't worth double the cost though...

Any other thoughts / recommendations?

Might as well take advantage of the deep discount if you were happy with the OE tire. Assuming what TR has is the same spec for weight, speed, etc.

is there a reason you'd need all-seasons though? I've run summer high performance year round in Texas

That was kind of my thought... And its the same exact tire...

As for summer vs all season... The car came with all season and I don't really see a need to change...

I have the Michelins and like them, but I'd be hard pressed to pay double for them if you are reasonably happy with the Goodyears.

I ordered the goodyears... they arrived at the installer today -- having them put on one day next week.

I've had no issues with them, so couldn't pass up the discount.

I likely would have gone for the Michelins if the cost difference was ~$30 a tire instead of ~$130 per tire. Maybe next time...
