Just sharing an interesting dealer note. I've been reaching out to some dealerships around the country to see what allocation options look like. The dealership in Maine responded that they don't have a waiting list, but don't have an open allocation currently... ie: I'd be first in line if I wanted it. They'd need a $5k deposit and want $15k escrow at delivery to be sure I don't flip the car. If I keep the car for 9 months, I get the $15k returned. It's an interesting approach to keep traders out of the market and at first thought I'm not opposed to it. I'm going to chat with them later and see when they think an allocation might become available.

That dealer is a good one, if it’s the one north of Portland — buddy of mine got a 911 from them. No ADM.

They’d need a $5K deposit before they have an allocation? Or 5K once the order is submitttd?

They wanted the $5k deposit now. After I followed up via email, it was disclosed they also want $5k ADM, so they are no longer an option.

I had dealers around here wanting as much as $10k deposits while telling me I had basically no chance to get the car. They said that was to make sure real buyers got on the list.

I suspect it was pretty standard last year?

I know they’re more consumer friendly than the shop down in Mira Mesa.

I think the ADM thing is really a moving target. I’m sorry I’m not staying on top of this.

I reached out to one of Alan's dealers (Brian) on Long Island and had a decent chat with him today. I am #7 on their S Cab list now.

As a reference, Jeff, here is his response on ADM and allocations:

"All the cars are allocated separately, down to each submodel (Carrera GTS vs Carrera 4 GTS for example). Carrera S models have been slim this past year for some reason. We have only received 3 but that was historically low. We have gotten more 4S and GTS models than S. My best guess would be about 1 year.

If you pre-trade your car, you will certainly lock in the value but I would hang on to it at this point. I'd like to have a better feel for the production schedule before I had you turn in the car. As far as ADM goes, we'll evaluate the market at the time of order."
