I hope I can get another 3-4 years out of my 1er, but I'm already at 98k miles. Whatever I get next will need a manual, a soft top and some semblance of useabilty (with the requisite trade offs for soft top sporty car) for dailyish commuting.
The rare M240i 6spd vert? And I mean rare. But they are out there.

I think he can't get over the steering. But that may be the only option out there in the near future.

I guess I'm in a different place with my Alfa.

I'm good with the transmission, and *gasp* I don't miss a MT.

I've adjusted to the brakes, and can drive the car smoothly.

Aftermarket exhaust makes it sound great, at least to my ear.

So I'm good.

That's where I am with the 8-speed auto M240 convertible. Good fun and good function 8/10s of the time.

The floppy paddles work great for me if I want to have more fun. Really, while I wouldn't say this is better than a MT, I'd say I'm not missing the MT at all.

When I finally give up manual trans I will have to have a big V8 to make up for it.

C63 maybe. Who knows.

I have to say I've never really gotten into the flappy paddles. But, I also don't drive much these days since I work from home. I mostly just zip around in Sport, since that mode more closely mimics the RPM shifts I used to do with a manual car.

The boosted 6's of these days give more normally aspirated v8's a run for their money (sound/character notwithstanding).

This seems like a pretty good deal as an example.

Edit:

This would be a blast. C63 supercharged.

Agreed, but there are always boosted v8s.
