Does anyone know how to tell if the reserve is met on these auctions ?

I’m tempted by this just to see if I can live with the size of it. I had the first gen and it was a drop too tight with the way I sit but this one is a touch bigger and if it doesn’t workout I can just sell it.

Not sure what you are asking but when the auction ends it will just state reserve not met

Yes, there is no formal indication that reserve is met until the auction ends, though sometimes the seller will note it in the comments.

On eBay it will show under the current bid ‘reserve not met’ so you know you need to keep bidding to hit the reserve.

I guess the other thing I'd caution is that the 986 and 987 are pretty similar, size-wise. The interiors are different and that may or may not be enough to make the 987 more comfortable for you, but if you thought the 986 was too tight I wouldn't count on the 987 being a lot better.

You may want to think about a 981, instead.

Yeah my 987 has a ton of headroom, but on every other dimension it's a snug fit. I'm comfortable in it but I wouldn't describe it as roomy.

Came here to second this. 981 is very similar to 991.

I had seen that car a few days ago, the white and blue combo caught my attention. Just looked closer and realized it’s my old GM selling it at his BMW store in ABQ... small world!

It's a nice spec. Not a lot of Boxsters have the power seats that provide adjustable lumbar. The 2.9L is port injection. It doesn't sound better than the following 2.7L in the 981, but it may be a touch torquier and it's also geared a bit lower (because 987).
