Lucid Air RWD at 70k

These guys dislike most EVs they review, but rave about the Lucid:

Seems like a really excellent sport sedan especially for the price- though you'd probably want to lease to hedge against depreciation and bankruptcy risks. From the sound of it, this is probably the closest you can get to something like an e39 M5 in the EV world (and possibly in the entire new car world other than the CT5)

I dont love the look of the rear, but overall its a pretty handsome vehicle in person with a strong presence.

Anyone considered one?

On a related note (amazing EV deals), it sounds like there's enough incentives on the RS etron GT to make for some extraordinalriy low lease payments on a 1 year lease (if you find the right dealer of course). This guy got a payment of like $250/month pre-tax! I did play around with a lease calculator and can see how this is possible but you'd still need the dealer to play ball and offer about 15% off pre-incentive. I'd expect most of those deals to go to friends and family (who wouldn't want a 160k car for $250 a month even if you hate EVs). My guess is that for most people $1k/month is more likely (on a 1 year lease at this MSRP level even a few percent of extra discount can make a massive difference in payment of course)...still a great deal for this car.

Given all this I dont understand how Porsche dealers can continue to lease out RWD Taycans for like $1500/month.

I drove one. Itís extremely nice. If youíre in the market for a big luxury sedan itís hard to imagine a much better option (as long as you donít mind the Saudi connection).

Ah thanks for the reminder-- I knew we'd discussed it before. Good point about the Saudi Connection- that's definitely a turn off. Looks like it was going to cost 95K when you test drove one last summer? Quite a price drop!

The Saudi connection is a fairly significant turn off.

My Porsche dealer tech friend recently called one a “douche canoe” after I sent him a photo of one I walked passed at the grocery store near my home. I found it rather humorous, especially given his place of employment.

The rear looks odd in pictures but actually looked good to me in person.

A two-year-old EV, as long as it doesnít burn down the garage, may be the sweet spot of used cars.
