Car Parts can be EXPENSIVE, andD ealers LIE

The drivers side mirror on the Grand Cherokee not longer locks into places (manual folding). Of course no one fixes anything, they just replace.

So called our local dealer and got quoted $620 for a freakin mirror. They would GRACIOUSLY sell it to me for $517.

So I look online. I can find a replacement mirror for $40.

But I found a discounting dealer selling the mirror (OEM, exact part number) for $351. But interestingly, they show the MSRP as $517.

Freakin dealers, trying to sell for over MSRP.

I ordered the OEM online.

Try 800 plus for a folding M5 mirror. The folding motor broke and of course they dont sell that part seperetly. You have to buy the entire mirror except for the glass. And then they dont come painted so there is the body shop expense to.

Dont get me started on this topic. I have an appt next week to get all the power steering lines replaced and new motor mounts.

You can still get one of these under warranty:

EDIT: The pic of my 1er was obnoxiously big. I'll fix it later.

The passenger side Focus ST mirror assembly lists about $350. It retracts, but not with power. It has a puddle light and the air temp sensor.

I learned about this pricing while standing in a parking lot negotiating with the box truck driver that sideswiped me. Stupid me didn't notice he also scratched up the fancy touch activated auto locking/unlocking door handle. $15 for e regular dumb one. $250 for the smart one.
