Abomination was definitely the right word.

There was also a time when the 986S was 50k. I recall that my '07 987S MSRP'd for 64k and I thought that was outrageous and was glad to get it CPO'd with low miles and less than two years for 40k.

Now you would be looking at a 987.2S with 6+ years and many more miles to get down to 40k. Hard to find a new 718S in stock for less than 80K it seems.

Crazy.
996 base was $67,900

I think I’d rather own the 993, but the 930 is a better style to my sense of aesthetics, despite the enormous spoiler.

I actually think the 993 turbo is my favorite looking 911 of all time. Just some about the curves and angles.

speaking from experience, any non-Turbo 993 is a total dog. I know that aesthetically they are very appealing, but they're called lead sleds for a reason.

the long hood 911s and even the 964s have a lot more pop because they're lighter cars.

car for car, i'd always opt for a late 80s 911 (pre 964) and save the original engine in a crate and then put a 3.8L M64 in the car, rather than get that engine in a 993 chassis.

I never thought that until I test drove a standard 1996+ 993 C2 coupe just before buying my boxster last spring. It was much slower than I expected. A 2013 boxster base (2.7 with not much torque) wiped the floor with it in every dynamic aspect.

and thus, this is the reason why anyone mooning over a 993 should drive one.

unless it's a low mileage keeper, to drive it daily is maddening.
