Cracked Oil Pan on the Volvo

Fun.

Last night when I went out to drive my wife's car to go get more materials for our kitchen remodel I noticed a dark puddle seeping out from under my wife's car.

Sure enough it was oil.

There was some kind of massive oil leak under the car. We got it in this morning at the mechanic and they lifted it up on the rack. Turns out the cast aluminum oil pan was cracked. My wife think she hit a pot hole, hard.

Anyways, just under $1000 to have it fixed.

Grrr.....

Something else I like about my ancient Jeep. . . good ol' sheet metal oil pan. When I hit it in on a rock a few years ago all it did was dent. . . none of this cracking business. It's still working just fine to this day.
