Ha yeah that’s pretty good—though honestly even if you’re doing your own work I’m really surprised that maintenance number is what it is. Mine has been reasonably reliable (and I’ve taken it to the shop a lot), but even in parts (excluding the fancy shocks) I have no doubt I’ve spent more than $1100. And I’ve gone through three sets of tires, and put fewer miles on mine!

Texas looks like:
6.25% tax, $30 to title (+/- a couple dollars depending on county) $51.75/year.

Works out to $123ish over 7.5 years. Bad deal?

I guess I thought the original sales tax was included in his purchase price and those taxes were some sort of annual personal property taxes

Nope.

Looks like I over estimated yearly reg fees by double. Oops. Doesn't change the answer much. But yeah, Clyde nailed it

Insurance, it's a little weird. We have four other vehicles. If it was my only car I assume it'd be higher. No accidents and no tickets for either of us, and we're old...

You haven’t had to do coolant or brake fluid either?

In addition to oil changes, off the top of my head mine’s needed coolant hoses up front, brake rotors up front and pads all around, door latch, water pump, belt, plugs, coils...plus various brake fluid and coolant flushes.

I’m not counting the new top, though at some point I put in new lifter rods but those have lasted a while—must have improved the design.

Oh and a new gas cap.

And three sets of tires, but the first set I used up on the track and the second set got so old that I replaced them when I got a puncture.
