I had a 99 fern/dove 5spd version from 2003 - 2008. There was definite cowl shake but the car was near perfect for a sunny weekend. Top down and just enough power with great handling to entertain.

As for the plastic window I made sure to be at the back of the car every time I put the top down to make sure it folded correctly, so YES a huge pain in the ass.

what a surprise... no drivers seat bolster pics in the for sale ad... I'm sure it was just an oversight.

The convertibles are surprisingly fun if you accept them for what they are... cruisers that have a really great engine sound and enough power to be interesting. A convertible E36 M3 was the first M3 I ever drove back in 2001 and it (plus all the car magazines I read back in the 90's) convinced me I had to have one (coupe, though).

I keep thinking I should buy another E36 M3 but then I remember why I sold mine in the first place.

The LS2 sky seems like an awful lot of trouble to build something not as good as a Corvette.

The E36 M3 convertible is nice enough, but the chassis on mine seemed loose 15 years ago. Can't imagine what it would feel like today.
