G05/F95 X5/X5M - 07/26 EOP

In production 8/26-07/33
iX5 models: 50 xDrive, M70 xDrive

Hmm… I suspect that is possibly via the individual that tends to leak information supposedly via internal searching at AG? The individual appears to do it throughout the platform. I only know what I have read regarding the G65 and I receive the physical printed copy of AN weekly.

Edit: I do remember one dealer that was interviewed after the dealer conference and spoke anonymously that the X5 looks mean and that the headlights are unlike anything BMW has ever done before. This individual alluded to the fact there is nothing else currently on the road that has headlights like this either.

Yes I believe that is where the info comes from

I did read the article about the recent dealer meeting and there was some commentary there on “the V8 is here to stay” and shift in EV strategy given current adoption in US. Not sure what that means for possibility of a V8 X5 in the next gen below the X5M. I know BMW’s V8 isn’t as reliable as the I6, but in a vehicle the size of an X5 the extra power makes a huge difference and we like the extra comfort in the “M-lite” vs. full X5M. Added plus that with the LCI it’s now a proper M engine in the M60. I’m disappointed with the cost-cutting in the new 5 series (interior materials are cheap and seats not as comfortable) so we’d prefer to lock in what we know and like with G05 X5 vs. waiting for next gen.

I was looking at the new 5 series just a day or two ago, and thought it looks rather homely. Not sure what the tweaks did, but it is not very successful. Frankly, I prefer the big grille to the new droopy nose on the 5.

Heres a shot of the drive and screen. I do think it's ID7.

I think all the questions were already answered, but there is no trunk partition for the top, it folds flat without impacting storage. There is also a pass through into the cabin if you wanted to sit with your skis or a shovel.

The manual is supposed to be the best shift feeling manual BMW has made for a long time. A lot of reviews have saved about it being "BMW like but better". The handschafter package is only available with the b58 engine. It should be a really nice match and make for a quick car. The 4 cyl is better than I remember. I don't notice turbo lag with the automatic, but the 6 cyl will definitely be better.

There is only one seat option. The issue I have is the same with every design Porsche seat, the top section of the back rest / head restraint can be tilted forward to support your head neck if you don't lean back.

After a couple of days with it, both my wife and I are really enjoying it. Plan will be to push my 1er over 150k miles by the end of this year and order a san remo green one next spring.

As you are aware the G05 was introduced in 2018 as a 2019 so MY19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 equals the typical seven year lifecycle with the eight year usually being the introduction of the new model. Obviously, the exception of that rule would be the F15 that only had a lifecycle of five model years.

The S68 in the current X5/X7 M60 is new, introduced MY24, so I cannot see AG kicking it to the curb anytime in the near future. Just a guess.

That is ID7. ID8-on would be the screen slapped on top of the dash.

Yes, in the event MY25 is the final year for G05 I will get one this year, but right now don’t think that will be the case.

Z4 is 100% ID7. They are not planning to update that to ID8, similar to last gen Z4 that was only model to stay on older version of iDrive for entire model run.

One new negative I've found: with the top up the entry into the passenger compartment is small with low clearance. I clocked my head quite hard twice as I sat on the driver seat. Definitely will take some getting used to.

One positive compares to the 1er. The top functionality doesn't impact the ability to open the trunk. I often start putting the top down on the 1er while my wife is trying to get something in or out of the trunk and I get scolded

How does that z4 chassis handle compared to the 1er?

I loved my 135i. One of my regrets.
