I mean, honestly, it's close enough to pass.

Ha ha, I forgot that this thread originated from a body shop post.
FWIW, my multi-coat red Model 3 also got hit a few weeks ago while parked. Damage was a bit more severe than the car at the top of this thread. Amazingly, the Uber driver who hit the car left a note (!) and his insurance was very pleasant to deal with (!!). Tesla made some news a while ago by adding collision services to their service centers, though when I made an appointment through their app I got a note back saying that they weren't equipped to do these repairs. They did refer me to a local body shop, who was also very pleasant (!!!) and started ordering parts even before I brought the car in. There was one minor delay when they realized the bumper support needed to be replaced and had to order that, but the car was still done...in less than a week? I think it was Monday to Friday. EDIT: No, it must have been Monday over the weekend to the next Friday. Still, not bad. Total cost of the repair (new bumper cover, new fender, associated paintwork and labor) was $5400. My repair order does show an add-on for paintwork: "Add for Three Stage." And they also have an entry for re-aiming the parking sensors and the camera in the fender, but...I think that's fair, and I suspect you'd need to do it on any modern car with those features. |

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1z8e...2ERylfsay/view This is an "article" written by a guy on another forum I'm on (and he posted some more on FB) about driver assist sensors and calibrations. He's been a tech for a long time and has recently started making his living recalibrating this stuff. The Tesla specific thing that irked me in the original post was the recalibrating could brick the car.

Wow that sucks but glad everything is working out smoothly. I always wonder about that red color, is it actually more layers of paint?

I’m going to guess along with the blood of former employees. Everyone leaves their exit interview woozy with a zippy cup of orange juice.
